Champion Nellie: 1st Dutch National, 1st International Barcelona  in 2009 beating 27627 birds “NELLIE” a 4 year old chequer pied hen of small to medium size was clocked just after 10am on the second day after the hazardous 720 mile trip from Barcelona. The race itself was one of the toughest Barcelona races in history with light to moderate winds with high temperatures of 30′ to 32′ degrees, she was raced to one five day old youngster. Unusually her first nine primary flights are white and her colouring must come from the Van Geel blood in her pedigree. Only three youngsters were ever bred from “NELLIE” before she was sold to Japan for €96,000 … van Houten has one youngster and The House of Aarden is proud to have the other two at stud, a Son and Daughter of “CHAMPION NELLIE”.
